Conveniently located directly opposite Paddington train station, this modern office complex is the first of three phases undergoing extensive refurbishment for Land Securities.
Putney and Wood was appointed by main contractor Wates, to design, procure and manufacture the stonework for the reception and lift lobbies.
Large panels of Caliza Capri limestone from Spain were used with recessed joints to clad the reception walls and columns. Caliza Capri was also the choice for the lift lobbies on all six floors of the building, while to create a contrast, Italian Pietra Serena sandstone was used for the reception floors.
In addition to the interior stonework, Putney and Wood also fixed Caliza Capri panels externally to the north west corner on the ground floor. Putney and Wood engaged consultant engineer, Harrison Goldman, to design a specialist rainscreen cladding system which incorporated lightweight honeycomb panels for the soffit.
Mark Craig of Wates said “We’re very happy with Putney & Wood’s workmanship on the job. They showed a ‘can do’ attitude to solving problems and I’d have no problem using them again”.
